A fortnight ago, on 26 May, a group of Hudson Sandler employees, clients and friends took to the high seas for the third Family Holiday Association (FHA) Annual Regatta. The regatta raises much needed funds for the association, which helps struggling families benefit from a much needed break, when they may not otherwise be able to do so.
Having settled on a team name of ‘nine gulls, one buoy’, we arrived at Port Solent Marina bright and early, bleary-eyed with our guests from Joules, the British Hospitality Association and Malmaison Hotel du Vin. After a quick change into some lovely Joules hoodies and all important caps (it’s possible that we looked much more pro than we were willing to let on!) we were ready to race.
One quick safety briefing later, and we were off! Led by our able captain Gary and first mate Erica, we tacked and gybed each course, helped along by the weather, which was very much on our side. The team’s competitive spirit definitely became more prevalent as the day progressed and our placing improved with each race.
Nine gulls and one buoy finished in a respectable ninth place and after capping off the day with a well-deserved afternoon tea, these (slightly sunburnt) sailors headed back to dry land once again.
